Into the future:

Google + Nord Projects, London

In a speculative future where humans have focused solely on selfish development and nature is scarce, the challenge is to revive natural spots such as the Scurrypools bridge in the Scottish Highlands from today so people can reflect and experience nature once again.

We used the speculative design to aptly use technological advances made in the Humans Inc. future to create memory banks to allow humans to experience the Scurrypools bridge as we experience it today.

In this Winter School project, we worked in a team of schools from all over the world to create speculative scenarios. We were given a Site on the Forres Campus of the Glasgow School of Art where we were located for the 2 weeks and given a speculative world. The world that our team was assigned was Humans Inc- a future where humans had not cared for nature and proceeded with development at a higher pace. The lens that we chose as a group was that of Multi-generational emotions.

We proceeded to look at a site that was given to us, the Scurrypools Bridge, and decided to look at this through a Humans Inc. world - a fictional world in 2050 where humans have not take steps towards reducing climate change and caring for nature has taken a second seat to societal wellbeing and economic development.
